Expert Tips & Strategies
Listening Section Strategies
For photograph questions, quickly scan the four options before looking at the image.
In the question-response section, focus on the question word (who, what, when, where, why, how) to anticipate the type of answer required.
For conversations and talks, read the questions first to know what information to listen for.
Reading Section Techniques
For incomplete sentences, identify the part of speech needed (noun, verb, adjective, etc.) before looking at the options.
In text completion questions, read the entire passage first to understand the context before filling in the blanks.
For reading comprehension, skim the questions before reading the passage to focus your reading on the relevant information.
Time Management Tips
In the Listening section, you must keep pace with the audio - don't spend too long on any one question.
For the Reading section, allocate approximately 45 seconds per question for incomplete sentences and text completion, and 75 seconds per question for reading comprehension.
If you're unsure about an answer, make your best guess and move on - there's no penalty for wrong answers.
